THE Rotary Club of Grays Thurrock once again started 2019 with another successful event for the young people of Thurrock.

The Young Photographer competition for 7 to 17 year olds received increased interest from both primary and secondary schools across the borough, together with individual entries.

The Thurrock local heat organiser, Rotarian Alan Falder said: “The standard of entry was again extremely high and the interpretation of the theme ‘Beauty of Nature’ was amazing.

The selection of the age category winners very difficult, they were all very impressive.

The judges finally agreed on the following winners which were;

In the Junior category, Freya McCarthy took top prize from Orsett CofE Primary School. In the Intermediate category, Luke Merrigan from Harris Academy Chafford Hundred won top prize and in the Senior category, Emer Cullen from Gable Hall School triumphed.

These winners will now go on to compete in the Rotary 1240 District competition and then hopefully, depending on results, go on to represent Thurrock in the Rotary National finals.

All competition entrants received a signed certificate of participation, and the winners of each category attended a presentation event recently at Orsett Hall at which they were each awarded a certificate and a prize.
