Volunteers attend Purfleet spring clean up

Ten volunteers from Purfleet joined in the Borough’s Spring Clean Up campaign to clear a 3-400 yard stretch along London Road east of the railway.

Over a two hour period on Saturday 50 x sacks of litter and rubbish were collected. In addition a sofa, a mattress, tyres and other large items including numerous estate agent signs were removed from the streets.

Recently Thurrock Council have been working hard trimming back plants in the area.
The litter picks and planting flowers in the former bus turn around, have really helped tidy up the area.

Local resident Charles was so pleased to see ‘Purfleet Pickers’ in action he bought out cups of tea for all, which was most welcome.

Last Saturday the pickers were in action again west of the railway again arranged by Purfleet-on-Thames Community Forum. If you would like to get involved in the future contact [email protected]
