Tributes to ‘loving son whose smile lit up room’



The family of a man who was stabbed to death have paid tribute to him saying they are ‘heartbroken’ at his unexpected death.

Tributes were paid to a Bhekisipho Mudise Dube, known locally as Marcus Harper who died in Corringham after suffering stab wounds to his leg and chest, at Queen Elizabeth Drive in Corringham on the March 21. Police and an ambulance were called at approx 7.40pm but he died at the scene.

His family paid tribute to him saying: “We as a family are heartbroken at the unexpected death of Bhekisipho. He was a beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend who lifted everyone’s spirits.”

A 24 year old man, Morgan Gilbert, from Lincoln Road, Basildon has been charged with his murder. He appeared at Basildon Magistrates’ Court on Monday, March 26.

“Bhekisipho was very polite, respectful, kind, loving and softly spoken. His smile lit up the room. He will be forever in our hearts,” continued his family.

They also paid tribute to members of the community and emergency services for their help.
The family said: “We would like to thank all the officers, paramedics and everyone who helped Bhekisipho for all their hard work, attention and care shown to him and us and for working around the clock.

“We would also like to thank the community for their support and assisting the police and the investigation team with information.”


The family have now asked for privacy to be able to come to terms with this tragic news as ‘we come to terms with our loss.’

The 21 year old male and 16 year old boy who had also been arrested, were released pending further investigation.
