Cllr Tony Cox and Cllr Meg Davidson have been elected as the new Leader and Deputy Leader respectively of the Southend Conservative Group.
With a combined experience on Southend Council of 16 years and a range of roles including Portfolio holder for Housing and Adult Social Care and Chair of Audit Committee, the duo has the experience needed to hold such important roles in the Council.
The pair are looking to bring in new ideas and enthusiasm to the Conservative group, the largest in Southend Council, to stand up for the people who live in, work in and visit Southend.
Cllr Tony Cox, Leader of the Conservative Group said,
“The priorities of local businesses and residents are the priorities of the Southend Conservatives.
We are listening to what people are saying about our town and we will act on that. We are not a party of empty promises and sound bites, we are the party action and will do what is needed to make Southend a place we can all be proud to call home.
It is an honour to have been selected to be the Leader of the Southend Conservatives and I look forward to working with Cllr Davidson and the rest of our very talented group as we move into the next chapter of our council’s history.”
Cllr Meg Davidson, Deputy Leader of the Conservative Group said,
“To be elected as Deputy Leader of the Conservative Group is a privilege and I thank the group for selecting me.
Southend is a town full of potential. We have great links to the city, we have stunning natural beauty and we have the best community spirit in the country. It would be easy for that potential to be squandered, but the Southend Conservatives won’t let it.
From Shoeburyness in the East to Leigh in the West, everyone deserves the right to live and work in a place they can be proud of and aspire to live the lives they want to lead.
The Southend Conservatives recognise this and as their Deputy Leader I look forward to working with Cllr Cox to champion the things that matter to the residents and businesses of this great Borough.”
