Thurrock MP, Jackie Doyle-Price, has congratulated a local restaurant for winning a prestigious national award recently.

The Enquirer reported last week on the success of the Village Indiya Restaurant, Lodge Lane, Grays – voted one of the best curry houses at the annual Curry Life Awards.

The Thurrock eatery was one of the best 13 curry restaurants and 19 best curry chefs from across the country given top recognition at a gala dinner and awards ceremony hosted by Broadcaster, Michael Buerk in London’s West End.

Ms Doyle-Price, who is also Minister for Health, visited her constituency restaurant in person to congratulate the team.

The MP said: “I was delighted to be able to drop in and congratulate Mr Ali Hussain, Manager of Village Indiya and his team personally for winning this prestigious award.

“This national recognition of a local restaurant will only enhance Thurrock’s reputation for good quality food. To be named as one of the best curry restaurant in the country is a remarkable achievement, and Village Indiya team should feel very proud.”
