Arlesey Town 1, Thurrock 0
THURROCK suffered a frustrating afternoon in the FA Cup at the Armadillo Stadium on Saturday where the Calor League Premier Division hosts scored after just four minutes and then threw down the gauntlet to Thurrock to break them down.
The would-be giantkillers from the Ryman One North gave it their all after Jeanmal Prosper’s goal, as four yellow cards testify, but they didn’t get the rub of the green and manager Mark Stimson was left rueing the result.
He said: “I’m very frustrated. Take the first three or four minutes out of the game and we were camped in their half. In this competition, you need a little bit of luck and we didn’t have that today, typified by Ben Smith’s shot that looked all the way to be going in then hit the bar.
“We knew they are a good side and we gave as much as could without getting that clean strike away. Some of the football today in our own half was good but we have to take it forward a few yards.
“As it is, they got the goal, we wish them all the best and now we have to crack on in the league. “
