VCD Athletic 3, Maldon & Tiptree 2

MALDON, who at this time last year were racing away with the Ryman One North in much the fashion that VCD are doing this season, gave their hosts a good game but eventually fell short.

The Vickers who now have a 14 point at the top but will be wary of last season’s collapse from Maldon, were tested by their  fourth-placed visitors who took the lead and threatened a comeback before eventually losing..

Bradley Hunter put the Blues ahead after 21 minutes before Sherwin Stanley scored the first of his hat-trick of goals on 36 minutes.

He added the others in a four minute spell either side of the hour mark. Jacob Cleaver, on a three-month loan from Conference South side Concord Rangers, pulled one back for the visitors with seven minutes to go.
