Something Ivy Blu

Ivy BluA BRIDAL Boutique in Barleylands has been busy expanding its range of dresses, and with four new and exciting top designers can now boast one of the largest dress choices for Brides in Essex.

Formerly known as Looking Good, the family run bridal and prom wear store reopened its doors in February 2015 following a lavish refurbishment and is now known as Ivy Blu.

Catering for all sizes, the store offers brides-to-be over 100 styles of Wedding gowns to choose from featuring designers Amanda Wyatt, Alexia Designs, Christina Wu, Diane Harbridge, Eternity Bridal and more.

“Whenever I speak to a Bride about her wedding I always visualise what it will be like – the dress, the venue, the flowers. I listen to my Bride and I love the feeling of being a part of their planning process,” says owner Elaine Bull.

“This year we’re seeing Lace with sleeves or very soft and romantic dresses that are all about the simplicity with floaty skirts and fitted tops. But we’re also seeing a little colour with champagnes and rose tints becoming very popular.”

Having previously worked in accounts, Elaine and her husband Adrian first took on the Barleylands store six years ago and in 2015 decided to refurbish and rebrand.

“I loved every part of planning my own wedding 12 years ago and I knew that I wanted to work in the Bridal industry,” says Elaine. “When we took over the shop it was a place to hire evening wear. But now we are solely a bridal and prom wear boutique, I think the name Ivy Blu really helps us to stand out as our own brand. We’re not just ‘The Bridal or Prom shop in Barleylands’ anymore.”

To complement the shop’s new branding, the interior has had a lavish makeover too, featuring silver, greys and ivory decor.

“We still stock many of the same trusted designers that we used to but we’ve also introduced some new designers such as Diane Harbridge, Eternity and Christina Wu,” says the owner. “I feel that we share the same ethos. Each dress is individual in its own right – after all, no two girls are the same so why should their dresses be?

“We’re a very relaxed, family business and I will always invite girls to wander in and take a look around,” she continues. “There’s never any pressure to buy – I want all of the girls to find the dress that’s right for them.”
