Following a very successful Spring Dance in April, The Melvin Beddow Big Band will be appearing for one evening only to present a sizzling Summer Dance at The Mill Arts & Events Centre in Rayleigh at 6:30pm on Sunday 14th July.
The band has been busy over the past year performing at the Writtle Jazz Festival, the Chelmsford Festival, Southend’s Priory Park Bandstand, weddings and spring dances.
Steve Robinson, the band’s Musical Director, said: “The music will be a mix of traditional big bands like Glen Miller, Duke Ellington and Count Basie, and some female vocals.”
“The second half of the evening will feature music from the 1950’s to the present, so dust off those dancing shoes and join us for a fabulous evening of entertainment.”
A cash bar will be available and snacks can be brought along. Seating can be reserved in advance at tables.
The Melvin Beddow Big Band is a 20-piece not-for-profit band based in Rayleigh, formed in 1991, although the history and many members of the band go far deeper and are even rooted to the band’s namesake, the late Melvin Beddow.
Many members still have links to the many successful bands he created in the Rayleigh area since the 1960’s.
Tickets for the dance are £12 in advance or £15 on the door (numbers permitting). Advance tickets are available via EventBrite (please search Melvin Beddow) or emailing [email protected] or call 08452 242861. More information at www.mbbb.co.uk
Doors open at 6pm, music and dancing starts at 6:30pm.
