Schoolboy shines

16 year old Ewan Ward from Gable Hall School presented himself at Chelmsford Cathedral to take part in the Rotary District 1240 Young Musician.
Earlier this year Ewan had taken part in the Thurrock Young Musician competition which he won.
He was then asked if he would be prepared to represent the Borough at the Rotary county event which he happily accepted.
On the day Ewan chose to play Adagio – 2nd Movement from Sonata in B flat – F. Devienne and then Moito Allegro – 4th Movement from Clarinet Sonata – C Saint Saens.
The organisers commented that his playing was excellent and he presented a fantastic performance of both his pieces. Unfortunately although his performance was excellent and he was not chosen to represent the county at the next level.
Ewan had been supported by Roy Dignum from the Thurrock Music Services and the Rotary Club of Grays Thurrock. Rotarian Corin Whymark said: “Ewan was a wonderful ambassador for Thurrock and demonstrated the high standards that are achievable by the youth of Thurrock. Well done Ewan.”If you wish to know more about Rotary visit
