Students at Belfairs Academy have been working since the Summer Term on their Christmas Production Les Miserables.
The story of Jean Valjean, a French peasant, and his desire for redemption after serving nineteen years in jail for having stolen a loaf of bread for his sister’s starving child.
Students have been working alongside Mrs Rainbird, Subject Leader for Drama and Mrs Hall, Subject Leader for Music, to bring this musical to life. They have shown great dedication and commitment by attending after school rehearsals and weekend rehearsals.
One parent of the cast whose child is a year 13 student and performed in previous shows at Belfairs Academy said: “The productions at Belfairs Academy are always fun, professional and you can tell that a lot of effort and hard work has be done by everyone and this year is sure to be a winning performance again.”
“For some of the cast this is their first time performing in a show and the experience has been a fantastic way for students to build their confidence and share their passion for the theatre with others.”
Mrs Rainbird says: “I’m incredibly proud of all the students and staff who have shown such fantastic commitment to this year’s production. I cannot wait to share the performance with the audience.”
