Santa fun is coming to Dagenham next month and a family are getting in on the action in memory of a loving grandmother.
Alison Friend, along with her two children Baylie and Ben, sister Michelle Thompson and her husband Paul and daughter Millie, and their nephew Matthew Friend and niece Kimberley
Friend, has signed up to Saint Francis Hospice’s 10th Santathon for the first time.
The annual 5k fun run will take place at Barking and Dagenham football club on Sunday, December 9 and the family are also excited that our patron, West Ham and England legend Sir Trevor Brooking, will be there to greet supporters and send them on their way.
“We are really looking forward to it as it’s something we can do together as a family and it is fun,” said Alison, who lives in Rainham.
“We cannot thank Saint Francis Hospice enough for the amazing care it gave my mum earlier this year when she spent three weeks on the inpatient unit and for the support it gave us and continues to give our family.”
Joyce Friend died in February and Alison has been receiving support from the hospice’s confidential helpline OrangeLine to help her to cope with her grief.
This year participants will have the chance to win Christmas dinner if they catch the runaway turkey.
