Diet and exercise proved a winning combination for a local pensioner, who has lost a whopping three and a half stone with help from Impulse Leisure.

Carole Hayward, from Stanford-le-Hope, has been retired for almost 10 years. The 67 year old knew she had to tackle her weight when she caught sight of her reflection while on a cruise.

“I was wearing a lovely evening dress, but all that really showed was my huge bulges. I looked so large; I had a belly from under my bust,” she says.

Carole had struggled to stick to weight loss programmes in the past, so she approached Wendy Barnard, a specialist instructor at Impulse Leisure Blackshots, for help.

“Wendy designed a personalised exercise programme for me, which involved going to the gym twice a week. It really helped to shift the weight. Eight months later I had lost one and a half stone (21lbs).” But then the scales refused to budge.

“When I suffered setbacks like this in the past, I would just give up. This time, I went to Wendy for help,” says Carole.

Wendy advised that Carole increase her gym sessions to three a week and also suggested that she join a weight loss group. Just six months later, Carole received a Slimming World award for two stone weight loss. This brought her total weight loss since October 2017 to a staggering three and a half stone (49lbs).

Carole says: “Since losing weight I can walk the dog for longer and further without getting out of breath and my blood pressure has reduced. I still have 7lbs to lose to reach my target of four stone, but without Wendy’s ongoing support, I wouldn’t have achieved this weight loss. I advise anyone who wants to lose weight to combine diet with exercise. It works.”

Impulse Leisure is offering a FREE weight loss programme, which guarantees results, for all new joiners as well as existing members.

Programme

The 12-week programme will help you shed those unwanted pounds the healthy way. It will give you access to health and fitness professionals, who will work with you to set realistic and achievable goals and then devise an exercise programme tailored to your needs.

Available for all new and existing members over the age of 18, the programme includes a free gym induction, where you will receive a full body MOT using the latest body composition technology – Boditrax – to measure your fat levels, muscle mass, visceral fat levels and metabolic age. Based on these results, your fitness trainer will recommend a daily calorie limit for you to adhere to and will also guide you through your exercise programme in the gym.

Your fitness trainer will also recommend suitable classes that you can attend and will provide healthy eating advice.

Participants of the programme will be expected to work out in the gym three times a week and adhere to their daily recommended calorie limit to achieve results.

Impulse Leisure’s health and fitness team will be on hand to offer support and guidance throughout the 12 week programme and you will receive assessments every two weeks with your fitness trainer to track your progress and programme.

“Being physically active can reduce the risk of major illnesses such as heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and cancer by up to 50 per cent.

“Our health and fitness professionals have helped hundreds of people transform their lives through regular exercise and healthy eating.

“We know it works, which is why we can guarantee results for anyone who commits to our 12-week weight loss programme. We look forward to helping even more people achieve their weight loss goals,” says Karl Hayes, Head of Operations at Impulse Leisure.
