Murder investigation begins in Barking after teenager shot in the head


A MURDER investigation has been launched following a fatal shooting in Barking.

Police were called at 7.07pm last night (Sunday) to reports of a shooting in St Ann’s, IG11.

Local officers, firearms officers and the London Ambulance Service attended the scene and found a man believed to be aged 18 with a gunshot wound to the head.

He was taken by the LAS to an east London hospital where he was pronounced dead at 10.25pm.

Next of kin have been informed.

Formal identification awaits and a post-mortem examination will be held in due course.

Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command are investigating.

A 20-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder and is currently in custody at an east London police station.
