BridesmaidsI’ve been having a bit of a debate with myself recently – do I get my bridesmaids dresses from a ‘proper’ wedding shop, stick with the good old British high street, or get them made by a dressmaker?

I’ve got three different age groups for my bridesmaids, my maid of honour is the same age as me, then I’ve got my two nieces, who are going to be 13 and seven at the time of the wedding, so I’m going to need to find a style that suits all three age groups, which hasn’t been as easy as I thought it would be!

If I head to a wedding dress shop, I’ll be looking at paying around £120 – £170 for each dress, and more likely than not they will need some sort of alterations. The good thing about buying them from a dress shop is that they stock a wide variety of dresses, including junior versions which would be perfect for my younger bridesmaid.
Plus I’ll be able to get the colour I want as well as the fabric I prefer.

Then there’s heading to the high street and picking dresses up from there. I know BHS usually have a great selection of wedding bits but it’s getting the right colours, as they are a high street shop they will be very trend based, so it will be pot luck if the dresses come in the colour or style I want.

The final option is to get them handmade, I haven’t really priced this up yet but I can imagine it being quite pricey. But saying that, at least I will get exactly what I want and the dresses will fit the girls perfectly.
There are so many options to choose from – and I thought picking my own dress was going to be difficult!
