James Duddridge Member of Parliament for Rochford and Southend East has ridden his bicycle 21 miles around his constituency to promote cycling as a sustainable and practical means of transport.

The ride, which took place on the morning of Monday 8th October, took James in a large loop along Southend Seafront, up Shoeburyness High Street, through Great Wakering and Barling, into Rochford and then back to the seafront. During the journey James visited a number of key landmarks in his constituency including the Shoebury Garrison, Baling Magna Wildlife Park and Southend Pier.

James said,

“This ride has been a wonderful opportunity to promote cycling as a sustainable way to travel around both Rochford and Southend.”

“We are lucky in this area to have great scenery and a flat terrain which means that you do not need to be Bradley Wiggins to enjoy a pleasant ride.”

“There are so many benefits of cycling as well, not only is it a healthier alternative than a car but it also produces far less air pollution keeping the air we breathe clean, it also reduces congestion on our roads and improves our parking situation.”

“I would strongly recommend that residents take up cycling for their shorter distance journeys and experience the benefits for themselves.”
