THIS year’s panto at the Queens Theatre in Hornchurch was the ever popular Jack and the Beanstalk.
My daughter and I went along hoping for a show, like last year with lots of pop songs and dance routines and we were not disappointed. We were treated to songs old and new, lots of laughter, dancing and Christmas merriment.
The audience interaction was fabulous and the children were asked to sing, shout and dance.
The story starts when Jack sells Pat, his beloved family cow, for magic beans and soon discovers that they open up an unexpected world of thrilling adventure. Jack and his dotty mum Dame Trott scale the Beanstalk, outwit the Giant and are reunited with Jill, the girl Jack loves.
The cast includes John Barr as Dame Trott, Claire Greenway as Pat the cow, Elizabeth Rowe as Jill and James William-Pattison as Jack. They will be supported by a talented Young Company, a cast of 30 local schoolchildren. I always highly recommend the Queens theatre for pantos and other performances, for they never fail to disappoint and its highly enjoyable festive fun. The Queens panto is on till Sunday 6th January.
