Long-serving foster carers have been honoured at an exclusive event to mark years of inspirational work helping children in Thurrock.
On Saturday 19 January, 100 guests, including Deputy Mayor Councillor Piccolo and Councillor Little, attended a fostering celebration event held at Orsett Hall.
Long service awards were presented to foster carers who have clocked up five-plus years, 10 years, 15 years, 20 years and 40 years of fostering children within the borough.
Among those recognised at the celebration were Thurrock’s two longest service foster carers – Blosmin Sutherland who has reached 20 years’ service, and Jan Parker, who has attained 40 years’ service. Both were congratulated on their staggering commitment at the event.
Councillor Little, Portfolio Holder for Children and Adult Social Care, said: “Fostering takes dedication and our foster carers have demonstrated this through their many years of service helping children and young people in our community.
“I’d like to thank all our foster carers for everything they do and for helping many children over the years.
“Your commitment does not go unnoticed and this celebration event is just a small way of saying thank you.”
“Foster carers are very special people and deserve to be recognised.”
