Simply the Best
Voted the UK Official 2017 tribute to Ms Tina Turner, Liverpudlian singer Justine Riddoch does the legendary singer proud.
Looking and sounding like the real thing, Justine and her live band perform as ‘Totally Tina’ – a Multi Award Winning Production that takes you back to the early years, featuring songs like River Deep, Mountain High, through Tina’s solo comeback in the 80s with an incredible cover of the Al Green classic, Let’s Stay Together, Steamy Windows and on to Tina’s massive solo hits such as Simply The Best & What’s Love Got To Do With It.
Justine is no stranger to star performances, after winning ITV’s “Stars in their Eyes” as Anastacia, her tribute show “Justine is Anastacia” was in great demand and she spent the next six years performing as her around the world, enlisting a live band to create more of a show feel.
It was in 2011 that Justine changed direction and created with her live band a Tina Turner concert style tribute show to honour the Queen of Rock and Roll, focusing on Tina’s live concert career, replicating scenes from various tours over the last five decades with custom twists and turns.
“Tina basically fell into my lap after being Anastacia for six years. I had always been a cabaret singer and always sung soul and quite a few people said I sounded like her. A friend of mine said to concentrate on one artist and the biggest legend you can and make it the most spectacular you can and Totally Tina was born.”
This is a spectacular show not to miss with a fabulous live band, ‘Totally Tina’ dancers who along with Justine as Tina perform fully choreographed dance routines and costumes galore. Expect plenty of dancing in the aisles and standing ovations galore.
“There’s five decades of music to cover but we always try different stuff. Dropping certain songs, adding some in, you get to know what the audiences want and what’s popular. I love Proud Mary which starts slow then hits it so hard – I adore the dance routine with me and my girls,” says Justine.
Justine is uncanny as Tina but the transformation isn’t just about putting on a wig as she explains. “Tina wore about seven different hair styles so I picked the one which looks most like her, I looked at her body shape – we have similar legs but I am a bit taller than her so picked the right costumes to show off my legs. I watched videos of her and of actress Angela Basset impersonating her. Tina has a mixture of facial expressions and the way she dances is unique the way she holds her back straight – it’s physically demanding to be her on stage.”
The show has gone from strength to strength, receiving rave reviews from audiences and critics alike. Just this year alone ‘Totally Tina’ has played 60 dates and travelled the length and breadth of the country.
“Totally Tina is a family, we’ve known each other eight years now and love performing and to pay homage to such an amazing legend.”
