Dave O’Higgins Quartet
Saxophonist Dave O’Higgins is one of the the most prolific contemporary jazz musicians in the UK, with 19 albums released since 1993. Much of the material has been original compositions and arrangements, with lineups from small group to big band, acoustic and electric.
Having studied music at The City University in London, Dave’s first big breaks were with John Dankworth and Cleo Laine, and Icelandic jazz-funk band, Mezzoforte. He’s also worked with artists including: Frank Sinatra, Chico Chagas, Jimmy Smith, Ray Charles, Martin Taylor, Jim Mullen, Kyle Eastwood, Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Orchestra and Jamie Cullum to name but a few.
The Dave O’Higgins Quartet plays some of the most swinging music you will hear today. Straight ahead jazz, firmly in the harmonic and melodic tradition.
The quartet’s 2017 tour is the biggest UK tour undertaken by a sax-led group this millennium with over 34 dates so far, promoting a new CD, “It’s Always 9.30 in Zog.”
Making up the fab foursome with Dave are: Geoff Gascoyne on bass, jazz drummer Sebastiaan de Krom and pianist Graham Harvey.
Dave O’Higgins Quartet will headline the Fleece Jazz in Colchester on 3 November, 2017. For tickets and more information visit: www.daveohiggins.com
