A global music sensation
IT’S been an incredible rise to fame for Calum Scott. The singer-songwriter from Hull garnered world-wide attention when he appeared on Britain’s Got Talent in 2015.
“Britain’s Got Talent gave me that platform that I needed to share my music with the world. I come from a very normal day job, a very normal upbringing, so I had six or seven years working in an office nine to five in human resources. I had the normal life and kind of thought maybe this is what I’m going to do for the rest of my life, but still had that passion and that yearning for music.
“I’m now able to travel the world and sing my music in places I never thought I’d visit – Dubai, Mexico, Brazil, so many different places. And to share this with people, to be in countries I’ve never been to and to have fans already there waiting for the music, and most of all, seeing them sing the music back, even to songs I haven’t even released yet, is an incredible feeling.
“My life has completely changed, but changed for the better.”
It’s no surprise that in just a short space of time, Calum has become a formidable artist with instant likability and a fervent fan base.
His poignant version of Robyn’s “Dancing On My Own” which he wowed the judges with on BGT has become a global sensation selling over 4 million copies worldwide. The song was also the best-selling U.K. single of 2016 by a British solo artist and was nominated for a Brit Award for Best Single.
Calum recently wrapped up his first U.S headline tour, selling out shows across the country. While in the States he performed on Late Night with Seth Meyers, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Good Morning America and Dancing With The Stars.
Writing with hand-picked collaborators at the legendary studio in Capitol Towers, Calum is currently at work on his debut album coming out later this year. He’s already recorded tracks with Fraser T Smith (Adele), Wayne Hector (One Direction), Steve Robson (James Bay) and Jimmy Hogarth (Amy Winehouse).
On his debut album Callum said: “I wrote this album with the intention of connecting with people all around the world using my own personal experiences, hoping that if I can inspire one person to be happy being themselves, bring some comfort or just make someone smile with my music, then all of my experiences have been worthwhile.”
Only Human will be released by Virgin EMI UK on March 9, 2018.
