Grandmother Iris Lambert turns 90 in April but she received an early birthday present when she won an incredible £10,500 on Saint Francis Hospice’s lottery rollover last week.
On Friday February 22, Iris and her daughter Pam Barlow visited the hospice to collect her winnings and meet the fundraising team!
“I’m still on cloud nine,” said Iris from Romford. “When my daughter told me the good news I kept asking if it was true.
“It is more money than I’ve ever had and I didn’t really believe it until I had the cheque in my hands.
“I have been planning a dinner with my family to celebrate my birthday and now it will be a lot easier.”
Sarah Williamson, Head of Community, Corporate and Events the Hospice, said,
“We are absolutely thrilled for Iris on her big win and we are very grateful to her for supporting the lottery since it started in 2011.
“It is one of our major fundraising initiatives and helps us to raise almost £500,000 a year to fund our specialist end of life care services.”
For just £1 a play you have the chance of winning the weekly jackpot prize of £1,000. Our rollover now stands at £1,000 and increases by £500 every week if it isn’t won (up to a maximum of £25,000)!
