Having received an invitation to sample the unique new summer menu at Las Iguanas restaurant in the new Bond Street area in Chelmsford, we were keen to see what all the fuss is about and we weren’t disappointed.
Crispy squid sprinkled with seaweed salt and served with aioli and Crispy pork crackling dusted with a chilli seasoning, served with guacamole.
These were perfect to munch on while we waited for our mains.
All produce is freshly cooked so when the order is ready it is delivered promptly to the table. This ensures that the high quality is maintained.
For mains I chose the Butternut squash, mixed peppers, ethically sourced palm hearts and spinach in a rich, cheesy tomato sauce, served in our sourdough bread bowl inspired by the famous Maracanã Stadium in Rio, whilst me friend went for the Dominican-style goat & scotch bonnet chilli curry with spring onion rice, fried plantain and pink pickled onions.
The goat curry melted in the mouth and there was just enough fire in the dishes to give it a good kick.
They also had a good selection of cocktails while I thoroughly enjoyed the brand new Brazilian Grapefruit Spritz, my friend enjoyed the Cactus Caipirinha , a refreshing and light offering rather than the usual dull offerings of some other establishments.
We had a lovely meal and thoroughly enjoyed some new and exciting dishes from a different and varied menu and we left the restaurant vowing to return in the not too distant future.
