Empire Film Cinema Club Review – Suicide Squad

Suicide Squad, 15, 130 mins
Festival Film Rating: 3/5
by Lee Chapman

I went to see the movie with an open mind, the reviews were not that good but the hype said otherwise. The story is about a gang of low life thieves, assassins, mad evil types and people with powers being forced to work as a rescue team.
There are numerous stars in this but the ones that stand out are Will Smith (Deadshot) and Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), they steal the show with their acting skills.

The movie itself starts off slow, the main baddie in the movie is a super bad witch (played by Cara Delevingne) who used to be on the squad and went rogue and wants to take over the world.

The plot is thin and overall if it wasn’t for the jokes, the action and the way the cast got on with each other it would have been a disaster.

I would recommend the movie for all comic book fans as it links in nicely with the Justice League, plus the main CIA lady is totally ‘gangster’ to quote Deadshot.
My wife and I totally loved the movie and if it wasn’t for the weak story we would have given it 4 out of 5!
