COUNCILLOR JAN SARGENT, THE INDEPENDENT VOICE OF HAROLD HILL AND GOOSHAYS WRITES FOR THE ENQUIRER:

“I must say that I feel very honoured to have been asked to write a few words with regards to my work and experiences during my first year as a newly elected Councillor but, before I write another word I must once again publicly express my heartfelt condolences to young Jodie Chesney’s family.

To say that this tragic act of brutal violence has left our community in shock and despair is an understatement.

We just can’t begin to imagine the pain and heartache this has brought to the people who were close to Jodie. It’s heart breaking beyond words. I truly believe that this feeling of utter sorrow for the loss of such a beautiful young life will never leave us.

Along with this sadness comes pride. I am so proud of how the community of Harold Hill have come together to not only to show their love and support for

Jodie’s family and friends but also to show their strength.
A strength and determination that hopefully in time will make a change.

A force of strength that will do everything in its power to STOP this youth knife crime epidemic that is spreading throughout the UK and is now at the forefront of Havering.

Harold Hill and Havering is now united in working together to stop this.
Councillors, Council officers, The Police, Youth Services, Voluntary groups, Religious groups, Social Media groups, Schools, Parents, Grandparents, Brothers, Sisters and everyone you can think of.

We are all working together, supporting each other in helping to find a solution.

We have lots of meetings and events planned for the forthcoming year; including meetings on how we can work on keeping our streets safe and on how we can help and support our youth.

We will also hold Information meetings specifically for our youths.
Meeting

Networking and socialising events where we can meet face to face rather than talk through a computer screen.

As many have shown an interest in voluntary patrols our first meeting will be hosted by Havering StreetWatch.

At this meeting we are also hoping to have representatives from Neighbourhood Watch, the Special Police Team, St John Ambulance and others, yet to be arranged.

This Public Information Meeting Havering Streetwatch will be held on Friday 22nd March at 7.30pm. Harold Hill Community centre, Gooshays Drive, Harold Hill, RM3 9LB.

We can and we will do this. Thank you.”
