Southend may be known for having the longest pleasure pier in the world – but over the past week all eyes have turned inland thanks to the return of the Summercare Southend Carnival!
Transforming the town into a seaside of celebration, the 10 day festival has already seen locals enjoying the fun of the fair, the delights of the dog show and a tasty teddy bears picnic.
And this Saturday, the Carnival will be celebrating its grand finale with a spectacular illuminated parade from Chalkwell right the way through to the Eastern Esplanade.
Leaving Chalkwell Esplanade at 7.45pm, the parade will travel along the seafront, through to the Leas, Western Esplanade, Marine Parade and finish at Eastern Esplanade.
“It’s a real pleasure to come down to Southend Seafront every year and witness the fantastic diversity that the Southend Carnival offers,” says David Amess MP for Southend West. “The Carnival isn’t just about putting on a show; it’s also about raising money for local organisations and charities.”
