Over 200 Havering Girl Guides, Rainbows and Brownie groups became part of the community based events at The Mercury shopping centre last week to celebrate all things Christmas.

The girls from 1st Hornchurch Brownies aged from four to ten years met, in Santa’s magical igloo grotto, then moved to stairs to sing Christmas carols. The girls were then joined with CBBC actor Billy Holland from Class Dismissed.

Spencer Hawken centre manager said; “We had a lovely time, the girls really enjoyed it. It’s lovely to collaborate with Rainbows, Brownies and Girl Guides to celebrate and sing this Christmas.”

We have lots more festive activities taking place over the coming weeks in the Centre”, so far we’ve raised over £100 for Saint Francis Hospice and First Step charities through choir singing and this week are joined by St Mary’s Catholic Primary School and Hyland’s Primary School”.

The Mercury have also teamed up with Queen’s Theatre and from the 15th-30th December are joined by Sparky The Elf And The Secret ToyShop, tickets will be available from the helpdesk on level and at www.queens-theatre.co.uk
