YOUR wedding may be the most important day of your life, but that doesn’t mean you have to splurge out on the most expensive dress to feel fabulous.
In fact, thanks to Billericay based designers Kitty & Dulcie, the dress of your dreams could be just a click away – and the best part? It won’t bust your budget.
Founded by Kirstie Taylor and Shelley Carter-Bright in 2011, the award winning online service features a beautiful range of vintage style dresses, all priced under £400, giving you the chance to purchase gorgeous bridal gowns for a fraction of the cost.
“It’s difficult to relay to brides-to-be that just because the price is low, doesn’t mean that the quality isn’t there,” says Kirstie, who also owns vintage accessories company Flo & Percy. “The only reason the price is so low is because the dresses come straight from the designer.”
Indeed, with no physical shop or overhead expenses, Kirstie says the company can focus on what their customers really want – quality dresses at affordable prices.
“As an online business, we’ve managed to listen to our brides through the internet to find out what they’ve liked about our collections and took their ideas to come up with the new pieces,” explains Kirstie. “We’ve really hit the jackpot this time as our dresses all seem to be equally popular.”
Having just launched their third collection, aptly named Got the Love for Valentine’s Day, the designers have expanded their range to offer accessories including bridal jackets and veils.
Modelled by Sky Living’s The Face runner up Eleanor Corcoran from Brentwood, the collection features six stunning new designs including the Hollywood inspired I Got You Babe Bridal Gown (£325), the full length Love Me Do Bridal Gown (£395), the knee length Crazy for You Bridal Gown (£365), the polka dot Hopelessly Devoted Bridal Gown (£385), a short sleeved ivory Little Darlin’ Jacket (£35) and the elbow length Truly Madly Deeply Veil (£45).
“This year we’ve launched jackets and veils into the collection,” says Kirstie, who hopes to expand the company’s collection. “At the moment we offer sizes 8-14, but we do get a lot of requests for a size 6 and also for sizes 16-18. A lot of our styles suit a curvier shape, so it would be great to offer plus sizes.”
“Our dresses are very popular in France at the moment and we’ve even sent some out as far as Australia and Dubai,” she says. “But no matter where our bride is, we try to offer more advice and support than you’d usually get in a shop. A lot of women are actually quite shy about asking for advice, so it can sometimes be easier to put it into an email. Both Shelley and I have fashion backgrounds so we’ll always be honest with our customers.”
And although there is no actual shop to try on the dresses, after brides have tried them on at home, if they want to change their size, or simply don’t think the dress is ‘the one’, they can send it back for a free exchange or refund. The only charge will be postage and packing.
“Today we had a bride who had tried on her third dress and emailed us saying ‘yes, this is the one!’” says Kirstie. “This is a big purchase for what could be a woman’s biggest day, so we try to give as much customer care as we can.”
