Rediscover the true joy of Christmas ‘spirit’ as the Brookside Theatre, Romford, take you on an unforgettable and magical journey through one of Charles Dickens’ best-loved tales, A CHRISTMAS CAROL.
Director – and theatre manager – Jai Sepple explains, “This new stage adaption packed with musical numbers gives the piece a virtual face lift. The story has been portrayed so many times, so many ways, that we find it too predictable to draw us out. Enhanced by an all new musical score, and presented with a tight-running, hilarious script, the story is restored to its original brilliance and once again jumps into the hearts of audiences.”
Add to that a tremendously talented cast and you have a production that will give the holiday season a warm sparkle. The story is the same; this Christmas Eve, Miser Ebenezer Scrooge, a mean and lonely man who prefers money to people, will have a night like none that had gone before as he is visited by the ghosts of Marley, his ex-partner and those of Christmases Past, Present and Future. With them, he embarks on an incredible journey… a journey to discover the true meaning of Christmas.
Jai continues, “We have tried to bring a few surprises to the audience with this production. Character interpretations, unique staging, stunning projections and a cast that makes the rafters ring bring the promise of a truly unique and joyful evening. Listed in the cast of characters are BBC TV’s CJ de Mooi, portraying the old miser ‘Ebenezer Scrooge’, Steve Probert as ‘Dickens’, David Ward as ‘Jacob Marley’, Lucy Lombard as ‘Belle’, Taylor Jenkins as ‘Tiny Tim’, Dean Zetter and Jenny Lee as ‘Bob & Emily Cratchit’, James Knowles and Marie Watson as the Fezziwigs, Paula Harris-Davis as the ‘Ghost of Christmas Past’ and a gifted cast that heralds from across the borough.
Bringing the atmosphere of Victorian Christmas traditions to the stage with a cavalcade of colourful characters, a ghostly quartet, hilarious script and fabulous songs, A CHRISTMAS CAROL THE MUSICAL is the perfect way to get you into the Christmas spirit. A dazzling and magical spectacular full of illusions and special effects, breath-taking projections and filled with true “Christmas Spirit”.
The production opens on 12 December and plays Wednesdays to Saturdays until 22 December 2018, with matinees on 15 & 22 December.
