75 year old dies after collision outside Waitrose in Billericay

A pedestrian has died following a collision in Billericay.

The 75-year-old woman was involved in a collision with a Ford Transit van in Alma Link shortly before 12.45pm on, Monday 29 July.

The lady was taken to hospital, where sadly she died that evening.
Inspector Rob Brettell, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “I’d like to thank members of the public who carried out first aid until emergency services arrived.

“Your help and kindness was very much appreciated.”

A 58-year-old man from Leigh-on-Sea was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drink or drugs.

He was further arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has been released under investigation while police continue their enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the collision.
