Mr Cruddas’ annual Christmas card competition presentation
Last Friday (December 1) saw Rainham and Dagenham MP Jon Cruddas hold his seventh annual Christmas card competition presentation event at the former Dagenham Civic Centre.
Unfortunately, due to a parliamentary vote, the MP was not able to attend himself.
He said: “I was absolutely gutted not to be there but I had to be in Parliament to vote. I just want to say huge congratulations to our overall winner Evita Karvausakite, 5, from Beam County.”
Winner Evita, whose penguin themed Christmas card was chosen by Mr Cruddas, won a variety of gifts including a tour for a family of four at Stratford’s Olympic stadium, donated by West Ham United, and a winner’s goody bag with DVDs, chocolate and vouchers.
“We had more schools and more sponsors than ever this year and I just want to express my thanks to all of the businesses, teachers, parents and children that took part,” said Mr Cruddas.
The MP also chose winners from Trinity School, Dagenham and ADHD support group Addup who also received prizes worth up to £60 as well as a goody bag.
The schools with the most entries won a meal for two at the Kusadasi Taverna in South Hornchurch.
This year also saw a very special prize donated by Steve Thompson MBE, who gave Mia McCaffrey, from Rainham’s La Salette Catholic Primary School, the chance to be the Dagenham and Redbridge Football Club mascot for the day.
“A huge thank you to my staff who did a fantastic job of hosting the event in my absence,” the MP added.
Evita’s winning card will be Mr Cruddas’ official Christmas card.
