A ‘rewarding’ opportunity
Fancy helping others this year and giving back? The Fundraising Team at St. Luke’s Hospice in Basildon are looking for ‘fun loving’ people willing to volunteer and offer help at Hospice events and in their office.
On Thursday May 17 the Hospice Fundraising Team are holding an open event from 3pm to 7pm at their base at Astra House Christy Way, Southfields Business Park, Basildon and are inviting members of the public to pop-in to meet the team for a friendly chat and find out more about how they can help and what volunteering opportunities are on offer.
Hospice Fundraiser Joanne Phillips said: “We have put together an exciting calendar of events for 2018/19 aiming to raise as much as we can to keep Hospice services running.
“Fundraising is very rewarding and can also be lots of fun being part of the team, making new friends, learning new skills and helping others. Our fundraising program this year include our annual fete, Christmas Market and Fun Runs as well as collections – none of which can go ahead successfully without the help and support of volunteers. Whatever skills or time someone has to offer we would be most grateful for their help.”
Hospice Fundraiser Anita Pease added: “The volunteering opportunities we have on offer are varied. It can be just for a few hours on an ‘as and when’ basis for a particular event or for a specific amount of time each week working on projects such as grant & trust research or data-base inputting.
“All volunteers are fully supported in whatever role they choose, and staff members are always on hand to provide ongoing help, training and support. Volunteers are at the very heart of our charity and St. Luke’s Hospice was built on the generous gift of voluntary action. Volunteers can made such a difference to the lives of others. If you would like to help but not able to attend on 17th May, please contact Anita or Joanne on 01268 524973.
