THURROCK produced their best performance for three seasons with a monumental team effort against one the favourites for promotion
Tring were first on the scoresheet when fly half Newton kicked a straightforward penalty but Thurrock stormed straight back and winger Jake Barrand scored close to the posts he also added the conversion.
The trend continued and the home side went further ahead with back row of Tom Pool Joss Nunn and Charlie Russo all involved in an outstanding move finished off by skipper Reece Durrance, Barrand was just wide with conversion.
Tring began to grow in confidence and dominated the next phase of the game when they scored three unanswered tries to go from 12-3 down to lead 24-12.
However, Thurrock secured the ball direct from the kick off giving Joss Nunn the chance to sprint into the corner, Barrand added the conversion and within s blink of an eye an the last play of the half Freddie Russo went over behind the posts Barrand again added the extra and Thurrock went in at half time 26-24 ahead
The second period started as the first half ended with Thurrock on the front foot and Barrand with his kicking boots very much on song added two long range penalties to extend the lead to 32-24.
The home side continued to press and a loose ball was pounced on by the Thuurock backs and the effervescent Hagen Mumba went over to score, Barrand added the extras, Tring added a converted try to make it 39-29 but Charlie Russo and Justinas Buktus scored tries both converted by Barrand before the visitors scored a converted try with the last play of game.
The team performance was outstanding the back row already mentioned the other forwards were also to the fire with James Flavin and Jordan Thorne putting in the hard graft and front Dan Carey and skipper Durrance but Jarrett Crouch had an outstanding game typifying the whole day.
