Theatre Review: Thriller Live

ThrillerThriller Live
Cliffs Pavilion, Southend
Running until: 27 Feb
Box Office: 01702 351135

WHEN Michael Jackson died in 2009 there was one thing that was certain – his music couldn’t be allowed to die with him.

And with huge hits of pop, rock and soul, in truth, this was never really an option, but by bringing them to the stage, Thriller Live has succeeded in leaving a fitting tribute to the King of Pop.

Encouraging the audience to get up and dance along, any fan of Michael Jackson won’t be disappointed as they take you through 32 of his hits, spanning his early days with the Jackson 5 to his later success.

Don’t be surprised to find yourself involuntarily ‘wooping’ as the show takes hold of you with those catchy beats brought to life on the live stage by a great cast of energetic vocalists and dancers.

A special mention must go to Sean Christopher, who dons the iconic white suit and single glove to perform the mesmerising dance routines of Jackson, from his moonwalking to, of course, the brilliant Thriller number itself, complete with fantastic make-up sure to give you a fright.

The whole cast obviously enjoy themselves, and that enjoyment is infectious, leaving the audience walking away with their foot tapping and no doubt with an array of Jackson hits in their head for weeks to come.

Thriller Live is on show at the Cliffs Pavilion in Southend until Saturday, 27 February. To book tickets, call the Box Office on 01702 351135 or visit
