James Duddridge Local Member of Parliament for Rochford and Southend East Welcomes new Work and Health Programme from the Shaw Trust

James Duddridge, Member of Parliament for Rochford and Southend East, has welcomed the announcement that Shaw Trust has won a contract to deliver the government’s new Work and Health Programme in Rochford and Southend East.

The Work and Health Programme will deliver specialist tailored employment support to people with disabilities or health conditions, and others who have been unemployed for two years.

Shaw Trust, who met with James on Friday 8th June, is a national charity with over thirty years’ experience of helping people to achieve their full potential.

The charity supports 50,000 people a year across the United Kingdom to enter work and lead independent lives, and plans to help to transform the lives of one million young people and adults each year by 2022.

James said: “It is wonderful to have Shaw Trust  in Rochford and Southend East helping people achieve their potential.

“As the largest third sector provider of existing employability, learning and skills programmes, the charity brings plenty of experience to ensure our local Work and Health Programme delivery is a success.”

Shaw Trust’s approach to the Work and Health Programme aims to empower the people it works with to co-produce their journey to work, whilst finding fulfilment through personalised support.

Martin Haydon, who oversees the Work and Health Programme for Shaw Trust in Southend, said:

“We are very pleased to have won the contract to deliver the programme in Southend and the surrounding area. We have developed a very strong relationship with the local Jobcentre Plus, leading to the highest number of referrals on to the programme in Essex. It was very useful to meet James Duddridge to discuss the programme, and how it can best meet the needs of the local community and build on our success to date”.
