Autumn sees some fantastic productions at the Chelmsford Civic Theatre not to miss…

‘A Princess Undone’ is based by actual events in the life of HRH Princess Margaret, who had a reputation as a controversial member of the royal family due to her romantic choices, almost the Princess Diana of her day.

However, in 1993 at Kensington Palace she has a final opportunity to be of service to the royal family. The princess acquires potentially sensational letters from Charles and Diana, and means to burn them. However, there are also other papers, some relating to Margaret herself. When a former gangster and an admirer shows up, the Queen’s sister has a choice to make or to break the family again.

This fascinating, production stars Harriet Thorpe as Margaret. Harriet has starred as Carole in The Brittas Empire as well as roles in The Bill, Casualty, Hollyoaks and A Bit of Fry and Laurie.

A Princess Undone will be at The Civic on Thursday 5 until Saturday 7 October, prior to starting a London run. As well as the evening performances, there will be a matinee performance on the Saturday at 2.30pm.

Noel Coward’s classic ‘Private Lives’ is his most popular and enduring work, due to its razor-sharp wit and sparkling dialogue. In a French hotel in 1930 two newly-married couples, Elyot and Sibyl, and Amanda and Victor are occupying adjoining honeymoon suites. Champagne is flowing when Amanda overhears a familiar voice, her ex-husband Elyot.

This charming comedy of manners and battle of the sexes includes the classic song ‘Some Day I’ll Find You’, and the play was famously written by Coward in just three days.
Private Lives comes to The Civic Thursday 26 to Saturday 28 October and includes a matinee on the 28th at 2.30pm.
