AFTERNOON Tea is a British tradition that has graced afternoon’s since the 1840s.
This simple afternoon meal grew into a social event, especially for those who spent their lives in the upper echelons of society. VEGANS won’t miss out either with an Afternoon Tea treat, says Karin Ridgers
Afternoon Tea used to be something that us Vegans could just dream about – or make ourselves, however Affinity 1777 in Leigh on Sea offers a “Proper Vegan Afternoon Tea.”
Sandwiches included various dairy free cheeses with peppers, guacamole and salad, Greek style dairy free cheese with sun dried tomatoes and hummus with peppers.
A selection of scones with strawberries, strawberry jam and a dairy free cream/ custard were next. The selection of homemade cakes is impressive with Vegan chocolate eclairs, chocolate brownies, chewy toffee flapjack cakes.
