MORE than 400 visiting classic cars and 50 preserved buses, coaches and commercial vehicles will be on display once again at the Canvey Island Transport Museum’s 38th Annual Transport Show on Sunday, 8 October.
This popular ‘end of season’ event is staged at two locations on Canvey. Buses, coaches and classic commercial vehicles will be on show at the Labworth Sea Front Car Park, while classic cars and motorcycles will be displayed in the grounds of Leigh Beck Junior School, plus the Museum building will host over 50 sales and charity stalls selling everything from transport-related collectibles to delicious home-made muffins. Hot and cold food, plus ice cream will be on sale at the Museum, and its impressive scale model railway layout will be fully operational for visitors to see.
Car parking for the event is available at the Labworth Car Park on the Sea Front, where a free shuttle bus service will link the two sites. There is no car parking at the Museum, nor in the streets around the venue.
Entry to the Museum and classic car show costs £6 for adults, £4 for children and OAPs, and a family ticket for two adults and two children costs just £15. All proceeds from the event go to the Castle Point Transport Museum Society (Registered Charity 278658) to support the Museum’s work in preserving its collection of local transport artefacts and vehicles, as well as the upkeep of the Museum building itself which dates back to 1934.
