THE Crown in Woodbridge, Suffolk, an hour’s drive from Essex, is taking part in the town’s annual Shuck ‘Shellfish’ Festival, which runs from 29 September to 1 October, with special menus, a market stall and safari supper, which will be a highlight on the last evening.
Set in the heart of the wonderful riverside market town, The Crown, a former 16th century coaching inn, is renowned for its award-winning restaurant. The building may resemble a typical pub exterior at first glance, but inside The Crown is truly something special, contemporary in style with luxurious but understated touches that ensures its historic charm remains intact.
Up to 90 guests joining the Safari Supper on Sunday, 1 October will tuck into each of the three courses at a different local restaurant including The Crown, The Table and The Galley. The evening begins at 7pm with canapés and a glass of fizz at The Crown; guests will then be split into three groups of around 30 rotating between the three restaurants. Priced at £40 per person, tickets can only be purchased from The Crown to include the canapés and fizz on arrival and three-course dinner.
The Crown is also offering a variety of Shuck Festival specials over the weekend in its AA two rosette restaurant and will host a food stall at the Whisstocks Quayside on Saturday, 30 September. All their fish and shell fish will be sourced locally from either the river Deben or the sea off the East Anglian coast such as River Debden oysters and mussels.
