Hundreds take part in dance

Hundreds of visitors attended Festival Leisure Park this weekend to help raise money for Children In Need.

On Sunday 7th October, Cineworld Basildon invited the general public to Festival Leisure Park, where the community simultaneously danced to the 1970s dance classic ‘Oops Upside Your Head’, raising a grand total of £580.00.

Cineworld are a proud partner of Children In Need; raising money for disadvantaged children and young people in the United Kingdom. As part of a series of fundraising activities ran by Cineworld and Festival Leisure for Children In Need throughout 2018, a £1 donation was kindly asked for each person taking part. Since August 2018, Cineworld Basildon have raised a fantastic £11,000.00; changing children’s lives all across the UK.

Dancing

The atmosphere at Festival Leisure Park was electric as families and friends poured into Cineworld and took their place in the dance line. The day started off with a quick rehearsal before the main event, making sure everyone knew the dance routine, and at 10am on the dot, the dancing began. The entire event was broadcasted live by presenter Danny Lawrence at Gateway Radio, and even Pudsey the Bear himself joined in on the fun!

Matthew Chambers, Centre Manager at Festival Leisure Park, said: “We had a fantastic day here at Festival Leisure Park, supporting Cineworld with their fundraising for Children In Need. We were delighted with the support from the local community, and our grand total of £580.00 towards Children In Need.”

Phil Pierce, Manager at Cineworld Basildon commented: “Thank you to all of the visitors who came to Cineworld and supported us in this fantastic fundraising.
It was great to see so many people spend their Sunday morning with us to help raise money for a wonderful cause.”

Next up at Festival Leisure Park will be their annual Halloween event on Wednesday 31st October, and it’s going to be fang-tastic. Join in with the ghostly fun from 4pm – 7pm, with free face painting, arts and witchcrafts and a spook-tacular treasure hunt around the park.
