A local charity has received a £300 donation from a store which has been awarded for its work in the community.
On Friday, 10 January a volunteer from Havens Hospices was presented with a £300 donation by Ian Stoker, Store Manager of WHSmith in Southend High Street. The store has been awarded by regional bosses for its commitment to working with and supporting the local community. Through its work the store now has strong relationships with many local charities including Havens Hospices with the store regularly welcoming the ‘Friends of Havens Hospices’ voluntary fundraising group to hold collections.
Ian Stoker, Store Manager of WHSmith Southend, said: “We have chosen Havens Hospices to receive this donation because we have enjoyed a relationship with their volunteers for many years and know how they rely on donations to provide care to so many families in our community.”
Havens Hospices incorporates Fair Havens Hospice and Little Havens Hospice, which help by controlling pain and medication, offering respite and caring for adults and children at the end of their lives.
