Witness plea after fatal crash

POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road collision which happened in Witham in the early hours of Sunday, April 4.
Martyn Grimwood, 33, of Epping Way, Witham, died at Chelmsford’s Broomfield Hospital following the collision in Braintree Road, Witham which occurred at approximately 12.50am.
He was a passenger in a Kia
people carrier, a beige Sedona that was licensed as a private hire vehicle.
Mr Grimwood was found in the road with serious head injuries; he was treated at the scene and taken to Broomfield hospital where he died a short while after arriving.
The driver of the private hire vehicle, a 34-year-old man from Chelmsford, was uninjured and did not require medical treatment.
The road was closed for around five hours to enable police collision investigators to carry out their investigation.
