Witness plea after death of two year old boy in collision

POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a fail-to-stop collision in Barking on Monday, 5 July, in which a two-year-old boy died.

Officers were called at approximately 7.50pm to reports of the collision in Salisbury Avenue.

The boy was in collision with a blue VW Golf car. He was taken to hospital but died later

A post mortem examination carried out today, Wednesday at King's College Hospital gave the cause of death as severe head injuries.

An inquest will open and adjourn in due course.

The VW Golf stopped momentarily following the collision and then left the scene.

Two men were arrested a short time later at an address in the Essex area. They have been bailed to return on a date in September pending further enquiries.

Officers from Chadwell Heath police station are investigating the incident and would like to hear from anyone who saw what happened.
