Choosing the right venue to get married in can be a daunting task; after all you want to make it the perfect place to create the happy memories of your special day.
Well now you can stay a little closer to home at Wat Tyler Country Park in Basildon, who have been granted a full wedding license!
And on Friday 6 August local couple Ed and Jen Hemmingway became the first to tie the knot in one of the park’s historic eighteenth century thatched barns, enjoying a reception at the Wat Tyler Centres Nobel Room.
“We liked the idea of getting married at Wat Tyler in the heritage barn as it is atmospheric, intimate and there is a history to the barn,” says 24-year-old Jen, from Basildon. “By being the first people to get married there we will also be making our own bit of history together. It is also an affordable option and offers great value for money.”
Basildon Council cabinet member for leisure and arts, Cllr Kevin Blake, adds: “I am delighted that the venue was a success for the newlyweds. I would like to offer my congratulations to them and wish all the best for the future.”
