Two in hospital after serious car crash in South Benfleet

A car crash in South Benfleet has resulted in two people being taken to hospital.

 

Police are appealing for witnesses of the serious collision between a black Peugeot 406 and a blue Vauxhall Corsa which happened in Essex Way, Benfleet at around 1.20pm today, Wednesday, 18 April.

Two fire crews were called to the scene and used specialist cutting equipment to release the casualties by 2.36pm, they were then placed in the care of the Ambulance Service and taken to Southend General Hospital.

 

Most seriously injured was a 71-year-old woman passenger from the Peugeot with leg injuried. A 17-year-old girl was also taken to hospital.


At the time of the collision there were two people in the Peugeot and three in the Vauxhall.

Police have closed the road and anticipate it will remain closed for around two further hours.
