As a fan of the original Rocky Horror Picture Show, I couldn’t believe my luck when the stage show arrived at the Cliffs Pavilion in Southend earlier this week.
And after opening night on Monday, I would even go as far to say that this is better than the film!
Narrated by the hilarious Christopher Biggins, who enjoyed every second of the heckles from the audience, the show tells the story of how innocent sweethearts Brad and Janet are led astray by the incredible and outrageously funny Frank ‘N’ Furter.
And for me, the true star of the show was the sweet transvestite himself, played by David Bedella. Almost an exact replica of Tim Curry’s original rendition of the much loved character, if it’s possible, David added even more to the fun on stage.
Packed with fun songs including Sweet Transvestite, I Can Make you a Man and Touch-A Touch-A Touch Me, there’s a real fun party atmosphere – especially when it’s time to get up and do the Time Warp!
The Rocky Horror Show will be playing at the Cliffs Pavilion in Southend until Saturday 11 September. For tickets, call the Box Office on 01375 351135.
