Science student swaps lab coat for posh frock in bid to become Miss Prom Show 2011

Miss Prom ShowAN ESSEX science student has traded in her lab coat for a posh frock as she looks to become Miss Prom Show 2011 at the Brentwood Centre this weekend.

Lauren Samuels, 21, from Hockley, is hoping to beat off stiff competition from 20 other hopefuls to win the crown and bag a place in the Miss England semi-finals.

“It’s amazing to be in the final twenty as modelling has always just been something I do for fun alongside my education,” said an excited Lauren.

“At the moment I’m in my second year studying Forensic Science at university but it’s nice to be able to hang up my lab coat and ‘glam up’ every once in a while.”

Lauren is no stranger to modelling with one of her latest free shoots being featured in December’s issue of style magazine Vogue alongside some of the country’s top models.

She first applied for the beauty show after a friend encouraged her to enter back in October last year and thought nothing of it until a call last week to tell her she had made the finals.

“It’s been a hectic week! Luckily I’ve kindly been lent a dress by Bou-Chic Designer Boutique for the catwalk stage of the finals and I’m just hoping lots of people will vote for me as winning and going onto Miss England would be a dream come true.

“To anyone thinking of voting I would just say please give a local girl a chance and I promise I won’t let you down!”

Fans can help Lauren achieve her dream by texting code “13LaurenS” to 84205 to help her win the all-important text vote stage of the finals (voting closes at 12 noon on Saturday).

This weekend the Brentwood Centre will be hosting the Miss Prom Show 2011 finals at 1pm on Saturday alongside a whole host of other events.

Basildon dance troupe Kayzar will be performing on both Saturday and Sunday after their successful appearance on Sky One talent show ‘Got To Dance’.

David Van Day and Sue Moxley will be on Stand 12 throughout the weekend while reigning Miss England 2010 Jessica Linley will be on stage at 3.15pm on Saturday to crown this year’s Miss Prom Show 2011.
