A SCHOOL has shut after it was announced that two more of its pupils may have contracted swine flu.
On Sunday, Castle View School on Canvey Island said a year eight pupil had a suspected case.
Two further year eight pupils are now also receiving treatment for suspected cases so the school has closed, though pupils sitting their GCSEs are being admitted.
The head teacher of Castle View Russell Sullivan said: "We've worked very hard with the NHS and the Health Protection Agency throughout the weekend, and hopefully we've managed to contain the situation
"Everybody has been very, very calm and collected. It's safety first."
The school will be closed to all pupils, except for those taking GCSE examinations, until 18 May. Other pupils at the school were being given anti-viral drugs.
There are already three confirmed cases of swine flu in the county - an elderly woman from Basildon, a man in his 30s from North Weald and one in Clacton.
