POLICE have appealed for witnesses after a motorcyclist died after a collision with a car at Rettendon Common
The crash happened at Main Road at about 7.30am today (Sunday).
The rider died at the scene of the collision. He has been named as James Lawton, 52, who was from Ingatestone.
Mr Lawton, was riding ahead of four friends also on motorcycles when his machine was in collision with a car at Main Road.
Paramedics tried to revive Mr Lawton but he sadly died at the scene of the collision.
Mr Lawton was riding south along Main Road when he was in collision with a silver Chevrolet Matiz car driven by a 19-year-old woman from the Southend area. The car was badly damaged..
The road was closed for more than six hours while Essex road policing officers and crash investigators carried out an initial investigation.
