HE may be the tough-guy of the big screen, but last week Ray Winstone was happy to meet fans and pose for pictures at the Odeon Cinema in Southend during the opening gala of Southend Film Festival.
Introducing the first film of the festival Hard Boiled Sweets, Ray said: “Gangster films are alright if they’re done well, At the end of the day all you really want to know is, is it a good film? And this is a good film.
“It’s a pleasure to be in Southend, I spent most of my youth here,” he adds. “To come here tonight and see people supporting this festival and British films is really special.” Ray will also be attending tonight’s closing gala (Thurs), showcasing his new film Lost in Italy.
